VINYASA YOGA, CONNECTION, WELLNESS
Hi, I am Auke and I am so glad you have found your way here.
I am the founder of BoYo - Bondi Yoga where the ocean meets the body through yoga, wellness and nature. I am a passionate and dedicated mother of 3 girls and I know the stresses and pressures of life that can impact us. I understand deeply that there is a pressing need to provide unique and tailored options for those who want to further and deepen their yoga practice, their connection to self and advance their wellness - but can feel the weights of daily life-limiting the ability to connect to these outlets.
I grew up in Holland and moved to Australia when I was 27 years old. A love for travelling took me on a voyage to South America, where I met this Aussie bloke on a motor bike, which then took me on a journey to Australia, where I finally settled, as a true local of Bondi Beach. From a young age I had a love for travelling, seeking to enrich my experiences to explore new places, meet new people, and immerse myself into different cultures. With a marketing degree, majoring in international business and having worked in the corporate scene in Sydney, I finally came to the conclusion I needed something more in life and my natural capability to give, all seemed to come together when I was first introduced to yoga 10 years ago.
I have created BoYo to provide a yoga offering for those who want to further their practice, increase their confidence and revitalise their health and well-being with Vinyasa and the connection to our beautiful ocean at Bondi. Sometimes these moments can be all you need to check back in with yourself, click in and feel connected - and this is what I am to bring to you.
You can access BoYo through either community group sessions, smaller private group sessions, or 1:1 private classes, each option tailored to your needs as an individual.
I am a qualified vinyasa yoga teacher, completing a 300-hour yoga teacher training program combining traditional & modern yoga principles, and qualified in Kids Yoga Therapy. Over my career, I have studied in the areas of healthy spine, digestion, flexible and strong joints and healthy menstruation. I draw on my passions for wellness and nutrition to create my holistic and nurturing yoga classes.
I enjoy teaching at the local yoga studios and gyms in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and working alongside my 1:1 clients.
"In a constantly changing and fast-paced environment, many of us struggle to find inner balance but instead choose to hold on to current behavioural patterns and habits. Many of us try to forcefully use a concept of mental rehearsal to create change, but by simply shifting energy in the body, we can recycle old thoughts and habits to get past old patterns and ways of thinking. I love working with Body & Mind Connection throughout my classes, so we can harness our energy in all the right places."
Having also qualified as a kid's yoga teacher, I profoundly believe that the foundations in the way we think about body and mind, are set when we are young. "Kids might forget what you said, but they never forget how you made them feel '', Auke says. "It is through this feeling connectivity that yoga for children works to open children up to their bodies in new ways, making them feel more connected to themselves, their feelings and the world around them."
Although our lives can be so full and demanding, it is the little moments of togetherness that can make life feel wonderful. I enjoy collaborating with small local businesses and bringing the community together in ways that create long-lasting meaningful connections.
